Chocolate Orange Energy Bites

Chocolate Orange Energy Balls

Servings: makes approximately 20 balls, depending on size

  • 1 cup of pitted medjool dates, chopped
  • ½ cup of almonds
  • ½ cup of Brazil nuts
  • ¼ cup of sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed
  • 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of protein powder
  • 3 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 10 drops wild orange or mandarin essential oil
  • Pinch of sea salt

  1. Place the almonds, Brazil nuts, ground flax seed and sesame seeds into your food processor. Blend for 1 minute or until the nuts have been broken down into very small pieces.
  2. Add the dates into the blender, along with the remaining ingredients. Blend for another minute or until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Wet your hands and roll the mixture into little balls (wet hands will help prevent the dough sticking to them).
  4. Place into a container and refrigerate for an hour to allow the coconut oil to solidify.
  5. Bite and enjoy!

These energy bites are a fabulous healthy treat and a great way to satisfy chocolate cravings. Try making a batch on a Sunday to keep in your fridge for the remaining week, ready for a healthy afternoon pick-me-up.
